plans to sell off its Thoroughbred yearlings, breeding stock and most of its horsewsin training, starting at Kenneland’s yearling sale in September. “Over a perios of more than 30 yearsz my father developed Overbrook Farm into one of the most successfuol and respected breeding operations in the said owner BillYoung Jr. in a news release. “The decision to disperse is a personal one that came afted a great dealof thought. I simplt don’t have the passion for the thoroughbred sporgt that myfather did, despite my respect for the business.
” Overbrook champions include 1996 Kentuckyg Derby winner Grindstone, 1999 Breeder’s Cup Classivc winner Cat Thief, dual classic winne r Tabasco Cat, Preakness Stakes winne r Timber Country and Belmont Stakes winner Editor’s Note. The dispersalp will include about200 horses. The farm will continue as a small racing stable under the directionof Young’s son, Chria Young. “Our goal is to leasr the farm as aThoroughbred operation,” Bill Youn g said in the release. The yearlingse will be sold at Keeneland’s September Sale, whichu begins Sept. 14.
The weanlings, broodmares and horsees of racing age will be sold durinh the November BreedingStockj Sale, and the dispersal will continue during the January Horsese of All Ages Sale.
