“The company sends victims fake checks and asks them to wire theier own money overseas before the badcheck bounces,” Suthers’ statement said. “Some of these ads request personapidentifying information, including bank account numbers, from applicants.” Anothee scam on the increaswe involves companies advertising for “mystery shoppers” to test the servicesx of local companies. “The ads say the company will pay an applicant a fixed amount of money to wire part of a checo or moneyorder elsewhere,” Suthers’ statement “The check sent to however, never clears and the victimds are left with an overdrawn bank account.
